Living With Lewy
Hope, Help & Humor for Dementia Caregivers
If you’re here because someone you love is living with Dementia, take a breath — you’re not alone anymore.
Meet Deb & Nora
Hi, I’m Deb — a wife, daughter, caregiver, and slightly frazzled human navigating the twists and turns of dementia caregiving with my family.
Like so many caregivers, I didn’t choose this road — it unfolded one hard day at a time.
But I also discovered something surprising along the way: helping others survive this journey is part of who I am.
And standing beside me — in paint and personality — is Nora Poppins.
Nora is my whimsical sidekick, inspired by my mother Elenore (“Nora”), who had a magical way of calming chaos, solving problems, and caring with quiet strength.
Nora brings warmth, humor, grace, and gentle guidance — the voice caregivers often need when things stop making sense.
Together we show up so that you feel seen, supported, and never alone here.
The Origin Story
It didn’t start all at once…
Living With Lewy began in the messiest, holiest places of caregiving —
with hospital visits, sleepless nights, hallucinations, hard diagnoses, heartbreaking decisions, and a love that refused to give up.
Deb walked this road first with her parents —
a mother lost slowly to Alzheimer’s,
a father whose service and wisdom shaped their family,
a heartbreaking season of being POA, executor, caretaker, advocate, daughter, and anchor.
And then everything shifted
Then came her husband’s diagnosis:
Lewy Body Dementia.
Capgras Syndrome.
A world-changing shift — overnight and forever.
Somewhere in the middle of it all… something changed
And from the ashes of grief, fear, and exhaustion came a calling:
“I have to help others survive this.
No one should have to walk this alone.”
And quietly… Nora was there all along
Enter Nora Poppins, inspired by Deb’s mother, Elenore (“Nora”) —
the woman who always knew how to help,
always added a dash of magic,
and always showed up with grace.
Nora became the whimsical voice of comfort,
the watercolor guide through the fog,
the gentle whisper of hope.
And from all of this… something began to grow
Together, Deb and Nora built a world —
a world where caregivers are seen, supported, and strengthened.
A world where creativity soothes the soul.
A world where education empowers.
A world where encouragement becomes a lifeline.
This is what it became
This is Living with Lewy.
This is Deb’s purpose.
This is Nora’s magic.
This is hope — handcrafted, heartfelt, and holy.
Why This Matters
Living With Lewy exists for one reason:
to help caregivers feel seen, supported, educated, and encouraged — not overwhelmed, invisible, or alone.
Caregiving for Lewy Body Dementia takes strength most people don’t even know how to imagine.
It turns love into a full-time job and everyday moments into unknown territory.
Here, you’ll find:
• Real talk about dementia
• Practical tools to make each day manageable
• Encouragement for those “I can’t do this” moments
• Creative resources that give your heart a little breathing room
Most of all, you’ll find reminders that you still matter — your heart, your health, your story.
Nora Poppins — Your Caregiver Guide
Nora isn’t just an illustration — she’s a companion for the caregiving journey.
Sometimes she explains medical mysteries or helps you understand behaviors.
Other days she shows up quietly with a cup of tea and sits with you in the hard moments.
She appears in different roles depending on what caregivers need most:
• Calm explanation when things get confusing
• Gentle emotional support when the day is heavy
• Tiny celebrations when you need a win
• Encouragement to rest when you forget how
Wherever you are today, Nora simply whispers:
“You don’t have to do this alone.”
